Crawford County Business/Education Advisory Council announces BEST Awards

BEST AwardsThe Crawford County Business/Education Advisory Council will be conducting its annual countywide recognition/awards program honoring outstanding effort by public school students and teachers. This year’s B.E.S.T. Awards will be hosted by Buckeye Central High School on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 7:00 PM, entertainment will begin at 6:30 pm.

One under class and one upper class student from each of Crawford County's seven high schools (Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford, Crestline, Galion, Wynford, and Fairway), and one Crawford County junior and senior from Pioneer Career & Technology Center, will be selected to receive B.E.S.T. Awards. The awards are given to students exhibiting outstanding levels of effort, responsibility and citizenship. All students are eligible including college-bound, career-bound, and special education students.  These are not academic or athletic awards; they are awards designed to recognize students who continually do their best at putting forth effort, committing to the responsibilities they undertake, doing what they say they will do, and being reliable and trustworthy.  The Business Education Advisory Council has concluded that it is these sorts of traits which are most sought after by employers and that there is a need to emphasize them.

Each student recipient is asked to name an educator who has been especially inspirational and encouraging in furthering the student's educational goals.  The students may choose any teacher from kindergarten through high school, including coaches, guidance counselors, and administrative staff personnel.

The Crawford County BEST Awards are sponsored by the Crawford County Business/Education Advisory Council and financed by donations from Crawford County Businesses, organizations and individuals. Numerous business people, service organization personnel, educators, principals, superintendents, guidance counselors, and others, have been helpful in providing organizational skills, time and guidance in connection with these awards.
